The project, entitled Decision and Creativity in Electronic and Natural Groups, is a multidisciplinary project that joins two teams, one from the Management and Social Sciences area, and one other from the Computer Science fields. Its main objective is the bootstrap of the study of computer supported groups in Portugal. In practical terms, the project proposes the creation of an infrastructure for the analysis and evaluation of the group interaction processes, with direct application in the teaching of Management Sciences and in Professional Training. This structure is defined as OPEN and FLEXIBLE, in order to allow its interconnection with other future installations, either university or corporate, or even international. The main results of the project will be the set of conclusions obtained through the proposed studies and analysis steps, the academic productions (PhD and Masters thesis, publications and presentations), the prototypes of the computer tools integrated, evaluated and designed during the project, and finally the definition of a program to promote the transfer of both methodologies and technologies to the industrial and entrepreneurial sectors. The project is defined to last for 2 years, and includes the participation of around 10 persons, corresponding to an overall effort of 11 person*years, spliced between the ISCTE and IST teams. One of the main concerns underlying the proposal is the creation of more than a “laboratory setting” for the purpose of the project’s execution, but instead, of a set of activities that allow the design of a scientific area able to last and reproduce itself beyond the proposal’s calendar. The objectives of the project can be summarized as follows: Analysis of infrastructures for Group study and analysis; Construction of a computer-equipped infrastructure to support group activities; Experimentation with selected Groups and Processes; Integration of Computer Tools, Evaluation and Design of Special Purpose Tools; Definition of a Programme for Methodology and Technology Transfer.
